Within UpMail, there are three types of placeholders:
- 1. Text Placeholders
- 2. Image Placeholders
- 3. Document/Link Placeholders
These placeholders act as components within the template that require user updates for each specific email. Before sending, users are prompted to update these placeholders with relevant text or images.
Text Placeholders
Text placeholders are identified by a [[double bracket]]. Any text within a double-bracket must be updated by the user or removed prior to sending the email.
If the text is not updated, a warning will appear once the user clicks send.
To update the text placeholder, simply click on the text snippet within the email editor and type in the updated text.
It's important to note that both merge fields and placeholders in utilize double brackets. In the event that a merge field isn't automatically populated, a warning will appear. This serves as a proactive measure to ensure that your emails are always complete.
Image Placeholders
Image placeholders are identified by a blank image with the word 'Replace'. This image should be replaced prior to sending the email.
In this situation, it's important to highlight that although a placeholder warning won't be triggered, the evident visual cue makes it clear that the image is a temporary placeholder, indicating that it needs to be replaced.
To replace the image, click on the image then select the image you would like to add to your email from the Recommended Content image thumbnails on the right.
Document & Link (Supporting Content) Placeholders
Document/Link placeholders are identified by the inclusion of the word 'Placeholder' beneath the thumbnail in the Recommended Content section.
Use the Quick Edit section to add a document or link/url.
If a document or link is not added, a warning will appear once the user clicks send.
