Whether you are in the Email Composer or Content Library, you will be able to edit your content. Your content includes Images, Documents & Links (supporting content) and Text Snippets.
EDITING IMAGES
To edit an image within the Email Composer, select the pencil icon in the top right corner of the image within the Recommended Library.
To edit an image within the Content Library, select the pencil icon in the top right corner of the image.
In both cases, the Edit Media window will open. From here, you can:
- Update the Name: This will initially be the name of the uploaded file. The name of the image serves as a reference for your UpMail users and won't be visible to the recipient.
- Add a Label: Labels are typically used for supporting content to indicate a call-to-action, however, you can add a label to an image without adding a link or document.
- Update Alternative Text: If the images does not download in the recipients email, the alternative text will appear. By default, 'Image' is added to this field.
- Add Tags: Any tags added to the image will appear below this field. Additional tags can be added by typing into the field. The list of available tags will appear, and you will also have the option to add new tags.
- Replace Image: If you would like to remove the image from your library and replace it with a different image, select 'Upload image from your computer' or 'Choose media.
- Attach a Document or URL: If you attach a document or URL to the image, it will become supporting content and we recommend adding a label.
- Customize Overlay Icon: Typically, overlay icons are applied to supporting content. This is addressed in the 'Editing Supporting Content' section. Overlay icons can be added to an image without a link or document attached.
- Crop the Image: This option is only available within the Email Composer. You can select the portion of the image to focus on. Once saved to a template, if you add this image to another template, the image will still be cropped but you can readjust it via editing.
EDITING SUPPORTING CONTENT
Supporting Content pertains to any image that has a link or document attached to it. Similar to images, supporting content can be edited within the Email Composer or Content Library.
To edit an image within the Email Composer, select the 'Edit' option in the bottom left corner within the Recommended Library.
Within the Content Library, select the pencil icon as you would to edit an image.
In both cases, the Edit Media window will open. The fields will be the same as Images, however, for Supporting Content we recommend:
- Adding a Label: As a call-to-action to indicate the image should be clicked on.
- Add a Supporting Content Tag: This will help you identify your supporting content within your Recommended Library.
- Add an Overlay Icon: This icon will appear over the image as another indicator of a call-to-action. There are a number of configuration options for the overlay icons including icon type (video, 360 tour, link, document), placement and size (small, top right corner or large, center) and color (light or dark).
In addition, when you are editing supporting content, you can:
- Switch to Image Only: To remove the link or document.
- View the Document or Link
- Use as Placeholder Image: This will allow you to add the supporting content to your templates and prompt your users to add a document or link to this content.
EDITING TEXT SNIPPETS
Your email templates will be made up of various text snippets opposed to one block of text. This will allow you and your users to easily edit sections of text, move text around and provide Recommended Content options.
There are two ways to edit a text snippet within the Email Composer:
1. If you edit a text snippet directly within the Email Composer and save the template, it will save over the initial text snippet. If you do not save the email template, the text snippet will not be saved.
2. Click on the text snippet with in the email, then click 'Edit' with the Recommended Content section.
An edit window will appear and you can update the text snippet and select 'Update'. This will update the text snippet within the email template and Content Library even if you do not save the template.
To edit a text snippet within the Content Library, select the 'Edit' option.
You will be taken to an edit page where you can update the text snippet and select 'Update Text'.
If the text snippet is being used within an email template, it will also be updated.
We recommend adding tags to all of your content to keep it organized and to set Recommended Content.
